Methods of Consumption or Use

Budder - Refers to cannabis extracts that take on a creamy, butter-like consistency. (See also Science & Technology)


Concentrates - Broadly refers to any cannabis product that concentrates cannabis compounds from raw plant material.


Dab - Refers to any extract used for dabbing. (See also Industry Slang: dabbing)


Dry Sift Hash - Refers to a form of hash very similar to kief, with a more refined process for manufacturing (See also kief)


Edibles - Broadly refers to any sweet or savory foods infused with cannabis flower or concentrates. (See also flower, concentrate)


Flower - Refers to the hairy, sticky, crystal-covered areas that are harvested and dried to be used as medication. When they are allowed to be fertilized by male plants, these flowers will produce cannabis seeds. 


Full Melt (Bubble Hash/Ice Wax) - A form of concentrate created with ice water and screen bags that bubbles as its heated. (See also Industry Slang: dabbing)


Hash/Hashish - Refers to product made from kief that has typically been formed into a block or ball of resin. (See also kief)


Jelly hash - Refers to a more potent form of hash that is created using a mixture of kief and hash oil. (See also Methods of Consumption or Use: kief)


Kief - Kief is a collected amount of trichomes that have been separated from the rest of the cannabis flower. Since trichomes are the sticky crystals that contain the vast majority of the plant’s cannabinoids, kief is known to be extremely potent. (See also Growing & Plant Morphology: trichomes)


Live resin - A type of cannabis concentrate that is manufactured using a technique that takes freshly harvested cannabis and freezes it to subcritical temperatures prior to and throughout the extraction process. (See also Science & Technology: fresh frozen)


Live rosin - A type of cannabis concentrate that is manufactured without the use of solvents. Often made by pressing bubble hash that was made from freshly frozen flower. (See also bubble hash and Science & Technology: fresh frozen)


Oil - A broad term that refers to many different cannabis concentrates. It implies a runny, oil-like consistency, but cannabis oil has become a ubiquitous term that describes extracts of many forms and consistencies. (See also concentrate)


Tincture - A tincture is a liquid cannabis extract usually made with alcohol or glycerol that is often dosed with a dropper. Tinctures can be flavored and are usually placed under the tongue, where they are absorbed quickly. (See also Science & Technology)


Topical - A type of cannabis product where the active properties of the flowers have been extracted and added to a product such as a lotion or a cream that’s applied to the skin. (See also flower)


Shatter/Ice - Refers to extracts that take on a transparent glass-like consistency. (See also Science & Technology)


Spliff - Refers to a type of joint that is rolled with both cannabis flower and tobacco. (See also flower)


QWISO (Isopropyl Hash Oil) - A type of cannabis concentrate that is made by extracting trichomes from cannabis flowers using isopropyl alcohol. (See also Growing & Plant Morphology: trichome and Science & Technology)


Vaporization - A popular consumption method of cannabis, largely used by the medical community due to the inhalation effects being less harsh than traditional cannabis smoking. 


Wax - Refers to extracts that take on a soft, waxy consistency. (See also Science & Technology)
