Orders Overview - Checkout
How much cannabis can be ordered at the Uber Eats checkout?
-
The Cannabis Act states an adult may possess up to 30 grams of dried cannabis (or its equivalent) in public.
How are regulation-based purchase limits handled on Uber Eats?
- During the creation of the “allow list” catalog for your Uber Eats menu, Leafly is rounding up and assigning “cannabis units” to menu items based on product weight.
- These values are then used to check against hard-coded purchase limits on a shopper’s cart. An error message is displayed if they have products exceeding their daily purchase limit.
What payment methods are available to shoppers ordering via Uber Eats?
- All Uber Eats orders are prepaid.
- For retailers using Greenline as their POS: Process the order as "other" for your payment method for any Uber Eats transactions. This will allow you to complete these orders without prompting the Merrco terminal, which also allows for inventory to reflect correctly.
What happens when someone's name is different than what is on their ID (such as initials)?
- The requirement in Ontario is that the recipient is “an individual who is located at the address provided” when the order was placed. It is not required that the recipient be the same person as the account holder. This regulation can be found here: O. Reg. 468/18: GENERAL
- Uber is currently working on improvements to account names, especially when initials are used. At this time, there is no timeline. For any concerns, please email help@leafly.com.
Can shoppers cancel their orders? Is there a limit on when they can cancel them?
- Shoppers can cancel their orders in the app up until they are marked "Ready for Delivery." After that point, the only way a shopper can cancel an order is by contacting Uber support directly. This will be notated by a "Canceled by Partner" reason.
- The Uber team is on the lookout for potential fraudulent cancellations for orders placed at retailers within the pilot program. If you ever complete a delivery and see the order status has changed to "canceled by partner," please contact help@leafly.com with the order ID immediately, and the Leafly Support Team will escalate this to the Uber team for further investigation.

- Yes, you can view your Uber Eats orders from within your Leafly Order History and export this data.

- To learn more about exporting your Leafly Order History, please refer to this article: Viewing the complete history of your online orders for your location

Notifications: How would I be alerted that I received an order?
-
There are a number of ways to receive notifications for new orders on Leafly; emails, desktop notifications, texts, and/or with a printer in your store. You can use any, and all of these with Leafly’s Uber Eats integration.
- For more information on the different types of Leafly Online Ordering notifications, we have these articles:
Uber Eats Phone Codes: What are they? How do I use them? Where do they live?
- Shopper phone numbers are masked when they place orders via Uber Eats. Uber provides a placeholder phone number and an Uber Eats Phone Code that you must enter after dialing the phone number associated with an order to be connected to the shopper.
- These phone codes will appear in the order details on the Leafly Order Dashboard and on associated receipts printed when an order arrives.
- On the Leafly Order Dashboard, the Uber Phone Code appears under the Customer Info section of the order in question.
- Note: Drivers should call or text shoppers with the Uber Phone Code prior to adjusting the order status to - arriving at customer
- If you encounter any issues with the UberEats phone code, please contact Uber live order support at 1-800-313-9651 for immediate assistance.
How are cancellations / out of stock / substitutions handled for Uber Eats?
- At this time, substitutions are not possible with the current Uber Eats integration functionality. You will be able to remove items from an order, or cancel an order that is not able to be fulfilled.
- UberEats will process any full or partial refunds for cart items that are out of stock. When you adjust the item quantity on the Leafly order dashboard, these changes are transmitted to UberEats, who then handles customer refunds.
- If you have any order issues, please email help@leafly.com to connect with our Support Team.
I use Cova as my POS; why do orders appear as POS failed to Create Order when they are canceled?
- Cova will cancel orders automatically if items ordered had over an available quantity or there was an out-of-stock item ordered in the cart.
- For any concerns, please email help@leafly.com to connect with our Support Team.
How do I refund an order?
- For those using Cova Order Integration, you will refund an order by canceling it in Cova. This will trigger the refund workflow, and the customer will be refunded.
- For those using Greenline Order Integration, you will cancel the order in Greenline. This will trigger the refund workflow, and the customer will be refunded.
- For those manually managing your menu or orders, you will cancel the order in the Leafly Order Dashboard. This will trigger the refund workflow, and the customer will be refunded.
A customer ordered an item out of stock. How did that happen?
- Leafly does not validate available quantity at checkout. This is true for orders placed on Leafly.com and on Uber Eats.
- Menus sync every 15 minutes to Uber, so there is a possibility for a delay in information. Meaning if an item is out of stock, it will appear on Uber for 15 minutes until the next menu sync with Leafly.
- For any issues on out-of-stock items ordered or for any concerns, please email help@leafly.com to connect with our Support Team.
- Dispensary partners are onboarded to Uber based on the delivery fee provided during launch. If the minimum cart requires to be updated, please reach out to Leafly Support through help@leafly.com to make these adjustments to your Uber Eats store.
- If an order is received below the configured minimum cart, it is likely due to item availability. Skus may be dropped if it isn’t in stock.
- Orders that come in like this are at your discretion to decide whether you would like to proceed with fulfilling that order considering it doesn't meet your basket minimum.
- For any concerns or questions, please email help@leafly.com and our Support Team can assist you further.
Processing Orders
Cova Integrated Partners
For more information on the Cova order integration, please see this article.
If using Cova, you will see orders placed to your LeaflyBiz Dashboard with a green Uber identifier. Since these orders populate into your Cova Order Dashboard, you will see these orders populate in Cova with a Leafly Online Partner tag to indicate an external source:
After reviewing the order within your Cova Order Dashboard, you will complete your existing order management steps to add products to the cart in Cova and mark the order as "Ready for Pickup". This will also adjust the order status within the LeaflyBiz Dashboard to a Ready for Delivery status.
To note:
-
Whether you are using a third-party last mile delivery solution or using Leafly’s driver tools, order lifecycle management must take place on Leafly in order for the shopper to receive updates from Uber Eats.
-
When completing the order, use "Leafly Online Partner" as your payment method for these transactions. This will attribute paid Uber Eats orders to a specific payment method for internal reporting and update your inventory accordingly. You will need to set up an additional payment option in Cova before this will appear as an option.
-
Please Note: All Uber Eats orders are prepaid. If you have integrated Merrco with Leafly to accept online payments via your Leafly menu, please pay close attention to the order source. Your Leafly-sourced prepaid orders should be tendered with "Leafly Online" as the payment method.
After adjusting the order to the ready status in Cova, you will need to return to the Leafly Order Dashboard to complete the order lifecycle. Delivery functionality and order management are unlocked on the Leafly order dashboard for the Cova order integration if a store is on Uber Eats.
Once ready for delivery, you will move the order status within the Leafly Biz Dashboard to 'Out for Delivery'
Move the order status to arrived at customer upon arrival and after the order is completed, once more move the order status to complete
Finally, as a reminder, please do not forget to tender the order in Cova after completing your delivery!
Greenline Integrated Partners
Please Note:
- All Uber Eats orders are prepaid. When Leafly + Uber Eats orders are sent to Greenline, they will arrive with the “Unpaid” status. This is intentional and allows you to cancel an order if needed without performing any transaction refund steps in Greenline.
- Leafly Driver Tools are not compatible with the Greenline order integration. Greenline becomes the source of truth for all order statuses. You will be unable to assign drivers to orders and drivers will not be able to update order statuses via the Leafly Driver Webapp.
Order Fulfillment Workflow
All Uber Eats orders are prepaid at the time a shopper places an order, regardless of the paid status displayed in Greenline when an order is first received.
If using Greenline, you will see orders placed to your LeaflyBiz Dashboard with a green Uber identifier.
New Uber Eats orders will also populate in Greenline. Locate the new order by tapping "Parked" and accessing your Online Orders queue on the Greenline tablet.
Update the order status from "Order placed" to "Ready for delivery" once you have physically packed the order.
This status change will be reflected on your Leafly Order Dashboard and be sent back to your Uber shopper to let them know their order is ready to go.
Next, before your driver collects their orders and heads out the door, mark any waiting orders as "Out for delivery."
This will update the order status on the Leafly Order Dashboard and also alert your Uber shopper that their order is on its way.
Optional: You can use the Uber Eats tablet to update the ETA if you want to provide your shopper with a more exact timeline for delivery.
Once your driver successfully hands the order to the shopper, access the order from your Online Orders queue then process payment as "Other."
Finally, after the order is paid and delivered, find it in your Online Orders queue and mark it "Completed."
This will complete the order on the Leafly Order Dashboard as well as on Uber Eats.
Manually Managed Partners
If you are manually managing your menu or orders, you will be following order workflows that you are already familiar with from the Leafly Order Dashboard.
If you are not using the Greenline order integration and using the Greenline menu integration only, Leafly online orders will not appear in your Greenline POS. You will need to manually create those orders in Greenline to track your sales and manage the order lifecycle through Leafly’s order dashboard or driver tools.
- Please Note: When completing the order in your Greenline Terminal, use "Other" as your payment method for these transactions. This will allow you to complete these orders without prompting the Merrco terminal and update your inventory accordingly.
For any Uber Eats orders, you will see orders placed to your Leafly Biz Dashboard with a green Uber identifier
To continue, update the order status to ready for delivery. When ready to deliver, move the status to out for delivery
Move the order status to arrived at customer upon arrival and after the order is completed, once more move the order status to complete
