Prohibited Content on Leafly Listings and Menus

Leafly is committed to maintaining a safe and compliant platform for cannabis-related information and listings. To ensure the integrity of our community and adhere to legal requirements, certain types of content are strictly prohibited from Leafly listings and menus. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in consequences, including removal of listings or suspension of account privileges.

 

Prohibited Content Categories

Targeting Minors: Content that may appeal to minors, including clip art, cartoon depictions of people, characters, or animals, and edible products not displayed inside or beside packaging, is strictly prohibited.

Product Use or Consumption: Displaying product use or the act of consumption in listings or menus is not allowed.

Deceptive, Misleading, or Disrespectful Content: Content that is deceptive, misleading, disrespectful, or violent, including sexually provocative or suggestive material, as well as the use of profanities, is prohibited.

Trademark or Copyright Violations: Use of content that infringes upon the intellectual property rights of others, including trademarks or copyrights, is not permitted.

Restricted Products: Listings or menus must not include prescription drugs, alcohol, tobacco (blunt wraps are an exception), nicotine products (e.g., nicotine vapes, vape liquid), poisonous mushrooms (e.g., amanita muscaria, Psilocybin), weapons, explosives, or ammunition. Additionally, novel cannabinoid products are restricted in several states. Please note that spores and seeds are acceptable products on Leafly. 

 

Novel Cannabinoid State Restrictions (subject to change)

Some states have legislation prohibiting the sale and distribution of certain novel cannabinoids, including Delta-8, Delta-10, HHC, HHCO, THCO, THCP, THCh, THCjd, THCV, and THCA.

Suppression States 

  • AK, AZ, CO, CT, DE, ID, IA, KS, MI, MT, NV, NY, RI, VT, WA & UT.

Suppression Details

  • Cannabinoids not requiring suppression include hemp-derived Delta-9, CBD, CBN & CBG.
  • Legal requirements for promoting novel cannabinoids may vary, and it's important to include appropriate disclaimers where necessary (e.g., "Use and possession may be restricted by law. This product may expose you to harmful chemical byproducts.")

In states where Novel Cannabinoids are allowed, advertising a product with >0.3% THC, the Hemp-derived cannabinoid must be included in the Product's Name, Description, or Image, or the product will be assumed to be illicit.
