Leafly can now present tax estimates to shoppers at checkout using tax rates configured in your POS system. This feature is currently available for BLAZE, Cova, Treez, and Greenline when retailer profiles are enabled for online ordering via Leafly and the order integration functionality between Leafly and your POS is enabled. We are exploring adding support to additional POS integrations that support ordering but do not have a firm timeline around those feature enhancements going live.
Leafly will utilize tax settings within your POS system to provide shoppers with tax estimates during checkout. Cannabis taxes can be significant, vary widely by location, and customers may often not know what taxes to expect when purchasing cannabis. Providing POS informed tax estimates can help customers better understand the total purchase price before placing their pickup/delivery order and increase customer confidence on Leafly. Additionally, tax estimates can help customers avoid being surprised with additional fees at payment and reduce order cancellations and modifications.
POS informed tax calculations use the connection between Leafly and your POS system to check for updates to tax for items in a cart based on a number of customer actions. BLAZE informed taxes
Setup
- Ensure that ordering is enabled on your Leafly profile
- Confirm that the BLAZE order integration is turned on
- Click on the 'Settings' option from your left side panel from your Biz Dashboard
- Select the 'Payment & Taxes' option
- Once on this page, click on the 'Taxes' tab to get started
- Select your tax option
- Save your settings by clicking ‘Save’
Calculation Actions
When shoppers take the following actions in their cart, Leafly will call BLAZE with the updated cart information to determine whether there are any changes to the tax estimate presented and update that total accordingly.
When a shopper:
- Adds an item to cart
- Removes and item from cart
- Updates an item in cart (ie adjusts item quantity)
- Refreshes their cart
- Changes fulfillment method from pickup to delivery and vice versa
- Changes their delivery address
Cova informed taxes
Setup
- Ensure that ordering is enabled on your Leafly profile
- Confirm that the Cova order integration is turned on
- Click on the 'Settings' option from your left side panel from your Biz Dashboard
- Select the 'Payment & Taxes' option
- Once on this page, click on the 'Taxes' tab to get started

- Refreshes their cart
Please Note: If you are utilizing Cova’s tax-inclusive pricing feature, you will want to select “I have post-tax pricing, display “tax is included in price.” or you will display double tax calculations to shoppers.
Treez informed taxes
Setup
- Ensure that ordering is enabled on your Leafly profile
- Confirm that the Treez order integration is turned on
- Click on the 'Settings' option from your left side panel from your Biz Dashboard
- Select the 'Payment & Taxes' option
- Once on this page, click on the 'Taxes' tab to get started
- Select your tax option
- Save your settings by clicking ‘Save’

- Select your tax option
- Save your settings by clicking ‘Save’
